The Ranch

We live in a little old Farm House on 16 acres in beautiful Franklin County, North Carolina. Our goal is to go back to the basic lifestyle of producing the freshest all natural fruit, vegetables, and chicken eggs. We started out with a small garden for ourselves, and we have had such success that we tried a larger garden this year with hopes to offer what we produce to the public.

On our ranch, we have a mixture of chickens: Americana, Bard Rocks, Speckled Sussex, Black Australorp, Buff Orpington, and a game hen. They provide an assortment of colored eggs, which range from light brown, dark brown and light green to blue. The girls produce anywhere from 3-7 eggs daily. Our free-range chickens enjoy wandering around on the ranch eating bugs and taking luxurious dust baths under the giant cedar tree. Being free-range chickens, we let them out in the morning and during the evening. Come dark they return to the comfort and security of their coop. We gather the eggs every afternoon and are sold daily. We don't have enough chickens yet to offer free ranged meat but we have plenty of fresh eggs daily.

Also on the ranch we have an array of beloved animals. We have a Jersey cow (MeMew) who thinks she is a dog, raised and bottle fed from a day old. I rescued her from an auction; she has become our big pet that comes when she is called.

We have the pleasure of sharing the ranch with our wonderful Boxers Sabra, Maggie Mae and Blade, (go to BlackHeart Boxer page). A variety of other dogs including Rowdy Yates our faithful Border Collie, Holly Marie our 3 legged mix breed dog, Tupie Lou La, Pitch, Madisen and my little Chinese Crested Teddy Rue. Several horses, including our stud Sensational Nick, (go to APHA Sensational Nick), My wonderful  22 year old Appaloosa Gelding "Bud" , Angel, Misty and Lil' Joe a very smart donkey, 3 cats, a dove named Missy, and this completes our animal family, I think.
